Retired missionary Maxine Klineline passed away September 22 after an extended battle with heart disease. She was 92.

Maxine lived her life to the fullest. Born in 1923 in Kansas, Maxine moved to New Mexico as a child, graduating from Albuquerque High School in 1941, Pasadena City College with a nursing degree in 1950, and University of New Mexico in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

In 1941, Maxine married Gilbert Klineline and they began 30 years of service as missionaries to the southwestern U.S. Indians, serving in Somerton and Winslow, Arizona, and Albuquerque, New Mexico. After retirement, Maxine and Gilbert were active members of the Church of the Nazarene, supporting many events despite declining physical health.

After Gilbert passed away in 2001, Maxine joined the Young at Heart Choir, singing regularly throughout the state of New Mexico and throughout the country twice a year. Through the years, she never lost her heart for ministry and found a real satisfaction in being a part of the dynamic interdenominational choir.

She is survived by her children, Fred, Fran, and Faye, brothers George (Lucille) Roberts, and Oris (Sharon) Roberts, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert, and brothers Gene Roberts in 1967 and Kenneth Roberts in 2012.

A celebration of her life will be held at 4 p.m. on October 11 at Heights First Church of the Nazarene, 8401 Paseo del Norte, Albuquerque, New Mexico.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the Young at Heart Choir, 2404 San Mateo Pl NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Her family extends a heartfelt thank you for the compassionate caregiving of her physicians and staff at Lovelace Hospital, Gentieva Hospice, and for the staff at Rehab Center of Albuquerque. She would tell all of the family often, “They are good to me here.”
