Peru NCM training challenges attendees to have compassion

by | 24 Sep 2019

Nearly 100 people representing 10 of Peru’s districts came together in the City of Trujillo in Peru for a training on Nazarene Compassionate Ministries.

Topics included the pastor’s kid sponsorship program, child development centers, how to present disaster response projects, natural disaster prevention and response, and how to mobilize the local church through Nazarene Compassionate Ministries.

“This is the first time I've attended an NCM training,” said Arleny Perez Torres. “It was a great blessing to gain a deeper understanding on the holistic approach of this ministry to help people. The presenters were very clear and engaging.”

The conference focused heavily on child protection.

“For the first time, I attended an event like this,” said Ana*. “During this training, things were said without mincing words; we truly want to implement a child protection policy and develop a plan to fight the abuse and violence against them.”

The attendees were left challenged and motivated to develop an excellent ministry for the glory of God.

“I feel challenged and there's a question that confronts me,” Torres said. “Are we a compassionate church where we live? We have an example [because] God is compassionate. The church cannot serve God and ignore our neighbor.”
