Church members from the El Salvador Central District visited the oncology unit of the National Children's Hospital to bring joy and hope through activities and the message of Jesus.

“It was nice to see how the parents smiled during the games that were held,” said Heydi Centeno. “There were also two boys who were in a difficult time, and when we arrived they did not want to participate. But, as time went by they started laughing and then asked to play with us. The moms were happy, telling us that the mood of Ishmael and Mariana had changed.”

The team, consisting of Pastor David Vásquez and Sunday School teachers Yanira Melara, Heydi Centeno, Odily Díaz, and Sara and Gabriel Cerón, played games, shared cake and soda, and toured the hospital to pray for each child. A total of 24 children and their parents heard the message of Jesus.

The whole congregation participated by preparing small bags with soap, shampoo, toothpaste, a toothbrush, socks, towels, and other donated items. In addition, the church purchased Bibles that they delivered to each family.

“Nohemí's mother was so tired,” said Gabriel Cerón. “She had not slept for hours, and when I came to play and talk with her, her mother fell asleep in the chair next to the bed. I spent a long time and finally we prayed, I delivered the Bible and the gift. Nohemí was very positive and on a good day to play!”

The children from the church helped make cards with drawings and biblical texts to encourage the children and their parents.

"The most shocking thing was finding a newly diagnosed 1-year-old baby,” Sara Díaz de Cerón said. “His parents were attentive to the message of the Word and eager for spiritual accompaniment."
