Oregon ministry receives immigration accreditation

Oregon ministry receives immigration accreditation

by | 11 Dec 2015

Medford, Oregon, First Church of the Nazarene was granted federal approval to operate as a Board of Immigration Appeals recognized site.

The BIA offers qualified nonprofit organizations and individuals accreditation to practice immigration law in a limited capacity by helping immigrants assess their immigration status and eligibility for citizenship, fill out the appropriate forms, file documents with the appropriate agency, represent them before the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and providing follow-up support through the entire process. BIA-recognized nonprofit organizations are authorized to conduct immigration legal work only if they provide low-cost services and serve under-resourced families and individuals.

Tomás Alvarez, Spanish pastor at Medford First, also received BIA accreditation. The church will officially open its doors January 20 to the community for immigration services.

The Medford church is one of six Nazarene ministries accredited by the BIA.
