Trevecca Nazarene University's historic McClurkan building is getting a makeover.

Preparations are underway for a $4 million renovation to the building, scheduled for completion in March 2012.

Earlier this summer the offices of the Millard Reed School of Religion were relocated to the Tidwell faculty building in space formerly occupied by WNAZ radio station.

Constructed in 1943, the McClurkan building included Benson Auditorium, classrooms, and the Millard Reed School of Religion. The limestone for the exterior walls was quarried by students during World War II and the American chestnut beams used for the building came from land in Kentucky owned by A. B. Mackey, then the president of Trevecca.

When the project is completed, McClurkan will have seven classrooms, a refurbished Benson Auditorium, an elevator, and new offices for the faculty of the Millard Reed School of Religion.
