The second day of the Global Nazarene Missions International Convention was highlighted by the celebratory March Offering for the 75th anniversary of Alabaster and the report of Global NMI Director Lola Brickey.

Brickey’s report was one of the most anticipated aspects of this year’s Global NMI Convention. Brickey was elected to the position by the Board of General Superintendents in 2015.

With all that has re-shaped our world in the last six years and recognizing that much has shifted in the church as well, Brickey sounded a clear call to celebrate the legacy of the local church and to value both those who are called to “go” and those who are called to “stay and support” the work of Nazarene missions.

Brickey’s challenge emphasized the NMI mission statement: NMI is the global missions advocate in every local church, nurturing a spirit of missions, and mobilizing into action, impacting people around the world. At the close of the report, Brickey invited all delegates and guests to participate in a celebrative offering for Alabaster—a march offering.

Alabaster is an offering in which everyone, regardless of age or circumstance, can participate. A newly designed children’s Alabaster box was released.

“The coming 13 months marks the 75th anniversary of Alabaster: laying foundations for people to worship, heal, and learn,” Brickey said. “We want every Nazarene, regardless of their age, place, or situation, to experience the joy of giving to Alabaster.”

Sunday will be a special day in the Global NMI Convention as attendees celebrate the commissioning of Nazarene missionaries over the past six years. The missionaries will be introduced before the convention gathers around them in prayer, asking that God will bless them in their works of service and grace in countries around the world. In addition, regional reports from Asia-Pacific and Mesoamerica will be shared.
