Africa Women's Conference

The annual Women's Ministry Conference for the Copperbelt District of Zambia was held at the Ibenga Church of the Nazarene with the theme, "2009: The Year of Blessings."

Approximately 80 women from across the district gathered for the May conference. Many of them arrived after taking three different buses to the small community of Ibenga. The opening service began after a wonderful meal provided by the ladies of the Ibenga church. Bestar Simbeye, the district superintendent's wife, brought the evening message from Deuteronomy 28 on blessings and obedience. Many responded to the altar service to follow Christ in obedience.

There were morning and evening messages each day and a Bible quiz each afternoon with a time for discussion following each quiz. Topics for the quizzes were Women as Leaders, Helper, Women, and Finances. A wonderful spirit of learning and growing was present during these times. Prizes were given for correct answers and the ladies had a spirited time in answering the questions.

Local church and zone choirs had the opportunity to present their songs. The Kitwe and Chililabombwe Zone choirs were voted the best of the choirs. Drama sketches were presented by the local area churches.

The District Women's Executive Committee consists of the following ladies: Mrs. Msango from Chingola, Mrs. C. Musongwa, Kitwe, M. Chiwala, Chililabombwe, Mrs. Daka, and Mrs. B. Simbeye.
