A new boat is under construction that will continue the missionary work in the coastal regions of the Brazilian Amazon by carrying medicinal, social, and evangelistic care supplies.

Toward the end of 2011, the boat Jesus the Hope fulfilled its socio-evangelistic mission after passing through a large storm. While there were no human losses, there were significant material losses and the boat had to be sold.

With the funds from the sale and offerings from different Nazarene churches, a new aluminum boat 18 meters in length by 4 meters in width (approximately 60 by 13 feet) is being constructed. The boat will carry 25 passengers and five crew members.

Leaders hope the construction will be completed by March. In the meantime, they are renting a boat to continue their focus on the coastal towns in Kambebas, Parintins, Novo Aião, and Barés.

Boats are also used to enable JESUS Film ministries to reach families that live in the interior of Amazonas. On November 29, JESUS Film National Coordinator Alfredo Muliere visited Manaos, Amazonas, to promote the JESUS film. He gave various training workshops in the cities of Manaos (Amazonas) and Belen (Para).

By the end of 2012, four work teams were installed, projecting the JESUS film in homes and public plazas in the states of Acre, Rondonia, Amazonas, and Para.
