Costa Rica church impacts community with evangelistic events
In October 2024, Casa de Oración Iglesia del Nazareno in San José, Costa Rica, conducted two impactful evangelistic activities as part of its urban evangelism strategy. These initiatives aim to bring the message of hope and salvation to the community using innovative and accessible approaches for all ages.
The first of these events was “Let’s Go to the Movies.” The members of Casa de Oración invited their friends and other sister churches to the cinema to watch the film The Forge. This film transmits values such as faith, prayer, communication, compassion, and humility, which challenge believers to share their faith and disciple others.
This event, coordinated by David Ramirez, leader of evangelism and missions at Casa de Oración, was considered a huge success, with more than 120 attendees. In addition, many decided to follow Christ or renew their commitment to God.
“Glory to God, what a night!” commented Pastor Hugo Miranda from Casa de Oración.
This was the first MIES (My Special Guest) activity, where members invited non-Christians to share the love of God with them.
The second evangelistic event was held at the end of October at the Juan Flores School. Under the name “Start Your Journey – Thanksgiving,” more than 60 sixth-grade students were reached with a message of values, teamwork, friendship, and recreational activities. This event, held in collaboration with ICTHUS Costa Rica, also opened doors for future talks with parents and the development of values in the educational community.
“These initiatives will be a constant part of our urban evangelism strategy. We have a great challenge on our hands,” Miranda said. “We appreciate your prayers.”
He also thanked the district superintendent, Sirlene Bustos, and the entire team of district pastors who joined the vision for their support.
Throughout these events, Casa de Oración has demonstrated its commitment to the call to share the Gospel in a creative and relevant way for new generations.
