The COMPASS Initiative launches website

Financial assistance is now available for qualifying U.S. pastors through grants from The COMPASS Initiative, a three-year initiative of the Church of the Nazarene, funded by a grant from the Lilly Endowment, Inc.

Senior pastors and fulltime associate pastors may be eligible to participate in The COMPASS Journey, a yearlong financial literacy, management and well-being program, after which they will receive specific grants. These grants will assist pastors in student debt relief, personal debt relief, and/or retirement readiness. The list of qualifications and online applications can be found at COMPASSinitiative.org

The COMPASS Academy, also located on the website, is a compilation of financial resources including personal budgeting, tax laws for the local church, retirement planning for pastors, small group studies on biblical stewardship, and more. The COMPASS Academy is available to any pastor or lay leader with access to the internet. Although these resources are primarily focused on financial and legal issues within the U.S., there are many resources that would be helpful for anyone.
